Dano vs. 'The Printer'

Dano's frustration with our office printer has finally boiled over... There are only so many papers jams one man can take!

Attention BEATLES fans

There’s big news for fans of THE BEATLES as their entire catalog has been digitally re-mastered.  The 12 Beatles albums and the "Magical Mystery Tour" soundtrack will be re-issued to coincide with the release of "The Beatles: Rock Band" video game on September 9th.  Engineers spent four years using state of the art technology alongside vintage studio equipment to get it right.  The highlights include the first four Beatles albums in stereo on CD for the first time, a boxed set with all the CD’s and a DVD collection of documentaries, plus a second boxed set, called "The Beatles in Mono," featuring their original mono mixes.

We can't wait to get our hands on this!

Friday Lost Classic

Ok, so we're on holidays with too much time on our hands... so we end up scouring the internet for video clips of songs that, for one reason or another, we just don't seem to play much anymore. Remember Noosha Fox (real name Susan Traynor)? Whatever happened to her?? Maybe we should try and get her on the show (if you know how to get in contact with her, please let us know).  Anyway, remember that big hit for Fox, "S-S-S-Single Bed"? We sure do... and so we thought it would be a great Friday Lost Classic on our web site...

Paul McCartney Dedicates Coachella Show To Linda

Last Friday, a very passionate Paul McCartney took to the stage as he kicked off the three-day Coachella music festival in America, and had thousands of fans in tears. Paul dedicated songs to his late wife Linda and his former band mates, in what was his first solo appearance at a U.S. festival. He dedicated "Long and Winding Road" and "My Love" to Linda, who died at the couple's ranch in Tucson, Arizona, 11 years ago.  Taken from a fan's phone, you can watch Paul's heartfelt performance of "My Love" at Coachella here:

A Lion Called Christian

In 2008 an extraordinary video appeared on YouTube. The video captures the moving reunion of 2 young men with their pet lion named ‘Christian’. The two had raised Christian in their London home in the 60s (after they bought him from Harrods), but when he got too big they had to send him to Africa to live with other lions. Today on the show, we’ll be speaking with these 2 men, Ace Bourke and John Rendall, about this remarkable story. Check out the video below to see the emotional reunion...

OUR gift to Her Royal Highness the Queen

Yesterday was the Queens 83rd birthday. Obama has already given her an iPod full of American music, so we thought a great present idea would be an iPod full of classic Aussie tracks. We took some suggestions from our listeners and here’s how the Queens iPod playlist would look:

             1. Shaddap You Face - Joe Dolce
             2. Am I Ever Gonna See Your Face Again - Angels (unedited live version)
             3. I'm An Individual - Jacko
             4. Australiana - Austen Tayshus
             5. Khe Sanh - Cold Chisel
             6. Farewell Aunty Jack - Graham Bond & Rory O'Donoghue
             7. Are You Old Enough - Dragon

I think she would quiet enjoy walking her corgis listening to this iPod mix.

The world's first 'pets-only' airline!

On today’s show, we discovered a brand new pets-only airline that is about to launch in America. Pet Airways is a pet-only airline where pets fly in the main cabin, not in cargo, and a pet attendant takes care of the pets at all times. We’ve managed to find Pet Airways' first commercial, it seems like something that was made by a skit show! Check it out below...

Being the red-blooded males that we are, we never thought we'd be glued to some vision of a couple of topless male dancers... but this father and son team from Britain's Got Talent 2009 have really got something. Try not to laugh at this...

Lost Classic

We love trawling the internet for classic songs that we haven't heard much lately... here's another one to add to our Lost Classic archives - City Boy and '5-7-0-5'.  City Boy were a British rock band who disbanded in 1982 and were best remembered for this one chart hit from 1978. Ahh, the memories...

A very brave Matt Preston from MasterChef reviewed our meals

Today we brought in our 'signature dishes' for MasterChef judge Matt Preston to critique.  We both fancy ourselves as O.K. cooks, so we were fairly confident, but it's safe to say this confidence didn't last very long. We didn't tell Matt who made each dish until the very end- this meant he could dish out the criticism quite freely.  Check out the pics below to see how our taste test unfolded.

Here are our dishes hot and ready to go (the brown blur on the left is salmon and the spewy looking bowl of red on the right is a bolognaise sauce):

We had a bucket on stand-by 'just in case':

Up first was the salmon on a bed of noodles. Overall Matt liked this dish, he thought the salmon was a bit overcooked- but he didn't spit it in the bin which was a good sign:

Next was the bolognaise (served without pasta- very unique). This time round Matt was NOT impressed at all. In fact he went so far as to describe this dish as tasting like 'morgue' mmm:

Just by the pics, it's obvious who won the challenge! The salmon did, which was made by Jono (or possibly his wife). Dano has learnt a big lesson from the challenge- bolognaise can NOT be served without the pasta, it's dinner rule 101.

So far we've not heard any reports of food poisoning, although we don't think Matt will be rushing over to our houses for a dinner party in the near future!

Matt Preston from MasterChef - Interview Part 1

Matt Preston is a celebrated food writer and purveyor of all things food and beverage. He's also a judge on the new TV show MasterChef Australia. So with such glowing credentials, we thought we needed him to come in to the studio for a chat... but secretly, we wanted him in to taste our homemade cooking and to 'judge' our skills.  Hear the first part of our chat with Matt here:

No one's safe when it comes to 'time'!

I received a ‘reassuring’ email today from a friend that made me feel a little bit better about my aging process. I am consoled to see that some of Hollywood biggest stars aren’t invincible against time.

I will let the pics do the talking. Dano.

Here's Clint Eastwood...

Here's Bond, James Bond, Sir Roger Moore:

Here's another one of our favourite Bond men, Pierce Brosnan:

And lastly here's a before and after of Richard Gere:

It's amazing what you can find in old boxes...

This morning I was cleaning out some of my old junk when I stumbled upon some old shots of Dano and I. Everyone in the office has been having a great laugh at our expense, so I thought I would scan them in so you can share in the laughs.

Here we are enjoying a free lunch to celebrate the launch of 'Late Night with Jono & Dano':

Here we are early on a Saturday morning for an interview with Craig McLachlan on Saturday Morning Live:
